§03 Voices from the workshop
Client notes
on finished pieces.
We brought in a 1970s sectional my mother bought new. Took the frame down to bones, replaced two broken legs, re-foamed and refabricated in a Crypton weave. Eight weeks later it walked back into the living room looking like a $7,000 showroom piece. It cost a third of replacing it.
Hillside owner
Sectional · full restoration
I wanted a built-in dining banquette that wrapped the breakfast nook. Sullivan drew it up in the workshop, made the frame in maple, and tucked it in with bullnose foam and a mohair-velvet face. Three years on, no wear, no sag.
Downtown loft
Custom banquette
Boat seats were torn through in three summers. New ones in marine vinyl over closed-cell foam with proper drainage — into year six now, still flat, still tight. They sew like the work matters.
